When a client asks how to translate an expansive, museum-worthy art collection—featuring an iconic high-school portrait taken of her by Robert Mapplethorpe—into a streamlined, downsized condo, the only acceptable design response is an enthusiastic, “Challenge accepted.”

The directive was beautifully maximalist: maximize every vertical inch for art, while engineering custom furniture and built-ins to keep things tidy. No detail was forgotten, including designing a custom-made modern credenza to cleverly conceal the litter box from a curious new puppy. The resulting residence is a masterclass in confident, color-saturated living—an artfully bold home that perfectly mirrors the energy of its surrounding San Francisco neighborhood, framed by world-class opera, ballet, and culinary delights.
